magicJack Announces Femtocell Technology

Just when you thought the magicJack couldn’t get any better, it’s improving drastically! Ymax, the company behind the Magic Jack, announced last month (January) at the Consumer Electronics Show, in Las Vegas, that they’ll be releasing a new version of the Magic Jack within a few months.

This version will include a newer cellphone technology called femtocell.

The Magic Jack will still be the same size, and offer the same features it had before, but now you’ll be able to make free local and long distance phone calls through your cellphone, too.

The femtocell technology works like a small cellphone tower within your house, allowing you to use you cellphone, through the Internet, to make calls free.

No minutes are added to your current cellphone plan, everything runs straight through the Magic Jack, and your broadband, or cable Internet connection.

Even though the technology is changing, and the Magic Jack is becoming an even more effective communication device, the price will still only be an initial $40, for the first year. That includes the Magic Jack unit, and the first year of service free. Every year from then on is under $20, just like the commercial makes perfectly clear.
